I was a mess after hurricane Dorian hit us in Hopetown on September 1, 2019. Friends and fellow artists supplied me with art supplies and I focused on trying to use them up.
This idea came into my head right away – the idea was those lighthouses that are in the northern European seas and off of Canada in the Atlantic – and how they have stood the test of time and storms year after year.
The Hopetown Lighthouse survived Dorian, and within days after that hurricane the kerosene fueled light started shining brightly every night – five turns, inspiring and giving hope to her people.
