Bees Eye View — Original acrylic, 20x20" (four 10x10" panels)
Built in layers, session after session, each pass painted directly over the last — a mandala worked outward from center until the radial structure took hold. What's on the surface now is the residue of that build: a field of gold tiled with repeating cell-shapes in blue and lavender, and at the center, one flower in red-orange, its petals crossing all four panel seams so the grid disappears into the bloom. Bees move through the pattern, easy to miss on a first pass.
What was I thinking as I painted? “What impressions enter a bee’s vision when she is out foraging?”
The four panels can be rotated relative to each other while the red center stays anchored — the layered history reconfigures, the core holds. Sold as one piece.
